I have not seen The Freebie, but I have seen the trailer, and I have read the rave blurbs by critics who saw it at festivals, and I have talked to smart people who saw and loved it, and I have seen and loved Humpday which it resembles, and so I feel completely qualified to say that every single person who had anything to do with this poster should never be able to work in movie marketing again. You know those rare moments in interviews when an actor or director will blame marketing for the failure of a project? This poster is why we should believe them. Even if I hate the actual movie when I see it on Saturday, all of these words are still true.
As a movie-liking person, this poster makes me want to cry.
