Ages and ages ago (2004 I think?), I bought a box of photos from the late 1800s/early 1900s for five bucks at a Vermont flea market, and there were a lot of gems (here are a few more.) I’m finally getting this one ready to go on my wall, and there’s just something so now about it now! Also, at least five people have separately told me over the years that they “have a crush on that guy with the beard” ever since I put it up on my site. I think I kind of do too now! The eyes!
Also it’s weird that when I first found and scanned this photo, this guy looked old to me, and now he looks young. Ah, life.
